Tadeusz Pietrzykowski was a Polish boxer and former Auschwitz prisoner during World War II. He was born on February 25, 1917 in Łódź, Poland.
During the war, Pietrzykowski was arrested by the Germans and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1940. While at Auschwitz, he was forced to participate in boxing matches organized by the SS guards for their entertainment. Despite the harsh conditions and limited resources, Pietrzykowski managed to win many of these matches, gaining a reputation as a skilled and resilient boxer.
After the war, Pietrzykowski continued his boxing career and became the Polish amateur champion in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. He also represented Poland at the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics in boxing, winning a bronze medal in the featherweight category in 1952.
Tadeusz Pietrzykowski passed away on August 19, 1991 in Łódź, Poland. He is remembered not only for his achievements in boxing but also for his courage and resilience in surviving the atrocities of the Holocaust.
